What gift will you give the world today?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for December 24, 2007:
The gift I will give my world today - I'm headed to the shelter shortly - first for a work project and then to manage the shelter until midnight. Last week, a sprinkler company donated equipment and labor to complete our sprinkler system which is allowing us to open up the full building beginning tonight. We have a total of 10,200 sq. feet and have been using a little over half the building since we opened in Nov. 1 - and serving at capacity - about 105 people (men, women, famiies). Today the project will be to create 3 couples rooms - with a total of 4 beds. Not a lot, but for those 4 couples, this is a real gift. One couple is pregnant - 8 months; another has a disability and came from New Orleans (Katrina) - which is a bit of a distance as we're in Boise. We're also opening a family shelter side hospitality room where school children recently came in and painted a mural - it's quite cozy.
As for the management side of tonight, I hope to be in the space of peace (which evidently is the word of the moment for me). As this is my karma yoga practice, I always intend to see the face of God in all people and work with them from this place and to dedicate the energy to God (to Love itself). I have varying degrees of success every day with this, but am always learning!
Blessings to all.

A gift you give is of your karma yoga daily; and this special one for Xmas eve is great!
Thanks Meenakshi. We had a peaceful night tonight.
